TOURNAMENT DETAILS
Format & Rules
The Canuck Invitational will consist of a two-person team best-ball format. The lowest handicapped-adjusted team score will be crowned the winner. Rolling tee times begin at 11:00 am EST, and will be staggered every ten minutes for each foursome. Each player will play their own ball for the entirety of the round. In a best-ball format, the team will be forced to decide immediately upon completion of each hole which score they would like to use. A minimum of 6 scores must be used by each player. Teams CANNOT wait until the completion of the round to determine which scores to use. The determination MUST BE MADE before the team tee’s off on the following hole. Once every team has finished playing, the lowest adjusted net score with both players contributing at least 6 holes will have won.
To foster new relationships, teams will be chosen at random once registration is completed. Players will have the option to choose their partner for an additional donation of $100. This donation will go entirely towards the benefitting charity. Players must be already invited in order to do so. As an example, if player ‘A’ would like to partner with player ‘B’ - both must be on the initial invite list and they would each pay an additional $100 on top of the registration fee.
Handicap System
This is a handicap-adjusted event. Players will have submitted their handicaps prior to the event and their scorecards will be marked before teeing off. Golfer’s handicaps will be adjusted by 80% to identify which holes they receive strokes on. As a reminder, teams will mark down both of their NET scores and choose which score to use immediately following the completion of each hole. That score will be uploaded into a mobile app for live scoring throughout the round.
Rules
The tournament is a modified team stroke play. The format is best-ball as listed above, with the handicap adjustment system. Teams will have to use 6 scores from each member at a minimum, and scores must be chosen immediately upon the completion of each hole. The lowest net team score will be considered the winner. Regular USGA Rules of Golf apply. Out-of-bounds will be marked by white stakes and are considered a lateral hazard. If a player hits it out of bounds beyond a white stake from the tee box, they can take a drop while assessing a one-stroke penalty where the ball crossed into the hazard. Yellow stakes indicate a water hazard. If the ball enters the water hazard, the player can drop it at any point along the path the ball entered the water and take a one-stroke penalty.
No gimmes will be given. Balls must touch cups in order for the score to count.
In a situation where two or more teams are tied at the conclusion of the tournament, the teams who are tied will return and a playoff hole until a winner is identified.
